Not many. I grew up in the midwest, but in the north. When I moved to
Missouri (which was a border state during the war), I found the speech
quite different. But it's still not Southern. I think it *sounds*
Southern to Yankees, but dialectally it just ain't. Ditto for Ohio and
Indiana.
