I would highly recommend B&B Accommodations Ltd. of Washington DC. They
represent over 80 different "homestay" B&Bs in the area, primarily in the
NW section of DC. They carefully inspect all homes and rates are very
reasonable (starting at $50/night for single with shared bath). Most are
located within blocks of a Metro stop.
BTW ... I'm actually housesitting one of these B&Bs while I look for work
in DC as a "high-tech communications specialist" (translation: I'm an
experienced information developer AND marketing communications/media
relations specialist).
