Most studies show that, in the printed media, a serif font is the preferred
font for ease of reading. The serifs themselves move the eye from letter to
letter helping the transition. This philosophy changes, however, when reading
online documentation. The same studies show that a sans serif font is best for
reading on-screen documents.

This has not been one man's opinion, but yours may still vary with mileage.
