TechniProse, Inc., has an opening for a full-time technical writer to
work on projects for a variety of clients. Minimum qualifications
include:

- A bachelor's degree (preferably in English, journalism, education,
computer science, or business administration); or equivalent
experience.
- At least two years' professional writing or editing experience in
a non-academic environment, with samples available to show.
- Practical knowledge of English grammar, usage, and punctuation.
- A high level of comfort with the use of IBM-compatible personal
computers.
- Familiarity with at least one of the following packages: AmiPro,
FrameMaker, WordPerfect for Windows, Word for Windows, or QuarkXPress;
and the versatility to learn and switch among these software tools as
needed for client projects.
- Ability to communicate on a professional level with client
personnel; to work either independently or as part of a writing and
editing team; and to work in an efficient and well-organized manner so
that client's target dates are met.

Among candidates who meet the above minimum qualifications, preference
will be given to those who:
- Have developed software user documentation in the past and can
provide samples of their work.
- Have experience developing Windows help systems.
- Have experience with health care, human resources, or materials
management computer applications

TechniProse is a small technical writing company located in beautiful
Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Our main line of work is designing and
writing software user manuals and help systems. We specialize in
documenting health care, human resources management, and inventory/point-of-sale
software, although we
have worked with many other types of packages as well. TechniProse has
been in business since 1984. Our well-developed client base includes
Fortune 500 companies as well as small to medium-sized software
companies.

Our writers work on-site at TechniProse, traveling to nearby client
sites as needed for meetings and occasional on-site work. We offer paid
health insurance (for full-time staff members), a pleasant working
environment, and a family-oriented management style including flexible
