If you are not aware of this already, PLEASE DO NOT send any cards to Craig
Shirgold (or any other spelling). Craig had a successful operation in 1990.
And yes, he also set the world record for the most greeting cards received.
This story has been making the rounds, in various forms, since then.

I just got off of the phone with the Children's Wish Foundation in Atlanta,
who confirmed that this did happen, albeit a long time ago, and that

It's a nice story, with a happy ending, but it happened a long time ago.

It's even mentioned in the book "The Internet for Dummies" under a side-bar
called "Chain Letters". The author (I don't have it in front of me right
now---sorry) says that the Guinness people have even closed the category for
"most cards received" because they are sick of the whole thing.
