There have been some postings about the pros and cons of editing and
reviewing documents on the computer.

Recently, Steve Poltrock (a Boeing office automation specialist) and I
wrote up a fairly comprehensive article dealing with onine editing and,
to a lesser extent, review.

The article discusses the pros and cons from the point of view of editors
and writers and from the point of view of employers. It also explains
some of the ways in which online editing can be carried out.

The article is D.K. Farkas and S. E. Poltrock, Online Editing, Mark-up
Models, and the Workplace Lives of Editors and Writers, IEEE Transactions
on Professional Communication, June 1995, volume 38, number 2,pp. 110-117.

Some folks may find it interesting.
