December 31st, 1999 will be the last day of the 1900s. That's worth partying
over.

January 1st 2000 will mark the beginning of the last year of the twentieth
century. That's worth partying over.

December 31st 2000 will be the last day of the twentieth century (and the
second millenium). That's really worth partying over.

January 1st 2001 will mark the dawn of a new millenium. Sounds like a good
