Technical Writer
On site in Newport Beach area

Contract through May 1996

Responsibilities include writing an online and hardcopy technical
user?s manual and reference manual for a C++ software product. The
audience will be programmers who are developing object-oriented
distributed systems.

Qualifications:
Must have experience in UNIX Workstations, Mac and Windows, as well as
an understanding of C++ programming language. Knowledge of distributed
systems, client/server model a plus. Good interpersonal communication
skill a

nd able to work independently is required.

Software:
MS Word, FrameMaker and RoboHelp.

Technical Writer

Contract:
In Ventura County:
Must be on site for 2-3 hours at the beginning of a project (not
optional). Project is completed off site (2-4 days). Contract will be

on again, off again for all of 1996.

Description:

Software protocol user manuals geared for engineering audience.

Job will require writer to be on site for 2-3 hours at the beginning of

each project to work with the engineers. Project will then be taken
off site. Written material is transferred to the Internet and
downloaded to FT
P and sent to the company. Projects will not be a steady stream.

Qualifications:

Must have a software engineering background and experience writing user

manuals.
Must have Internet knowledge and capabilities.
This contract requires the writer to be available as needed during
1996.
Must know WinWord 7.0. Previous experience using templates, a PLUS.

Technical Writer

Responsibilities include correcting, updating and name replacements in
existing manuals and help text for a 3GL/4GL product.

Qualifications:
Must have knowledge of help text.
Familiarity with client-builder tools such as Visual Basic or Power
Builder are a MUST.
Must know MS Word and Windows Help. Windows NT, RoboHelp and/or
Doc-to-Help are a PLUS.

For this position, you need not be an expert technical writer. You
must, however, have experience with help texts and client builder
tools.

Job Description:
Perform writing assignments for a repository product under general
supervision. These assignments include preparing product documentation

from research through delivery to client (printed and online
documentation).

Education:
BS in technical communications, computer sciences, or a related field,
or a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience.

Qualifications:
Must be multi-task oriented with strong oral and written and
communication skills. Must be able to gather and organize information
from highly technical sources. Must have previous experience in help
text and know Word

6.0 (and templates). A working knowledge of the full suite of
Microsoft Office products and graphics an advantage. Doc-to-Help a
plus.

Must understand object-oriented and repository/database technology and
concepts. Must be familiar with UNIX (Sun Solaris, HP) and
Windows/Windows NT platforms. Knowledge of C or C++ is a definite
plus.

This assignment is for a bleeding-edge product currently under
development. The assignment is scheduled to run 6 months, forty hours
per week. There is a good chance of a 6 month renewal.

Technical Writer

Description:
To write a high level end-user manual (200+) pages for a database
product. This will be a WEB DOCUMENT IN SGML. Will involve
manipulation of sophisticated graphics and screen captures.

This is a brand new project. Writer must be willing ?to go with the
punches?.

Qualifications:
MUST know SGML; UNIX and Windows platforms, plus CorelDraw 5.0.
Experience creating home pages on the internet is a plus.
