Mini Trade Show Is Focus of April STC Meeting

Phoenix, AZ - The Phoenix chapter of the Society for Technical
Communication (STC) holds its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 9 in Casa
Grande, AZ.

Six vendors are scheduled to demonstrate their products at the meeting: Adobe
Systems, FrameMaker, Intel, Merex Corporation, Quadralay Corporation, and
Interactive Ideas.

-Adobe Systems will demonstrate Acrobat, which allows the user to
create electronic documents from a wide range of authoring tools to share across
different platforms.
-Highlights of FrameMaker 5 will be the focus of FrameMaker's
presentation. FrameMaker integrates WYSIWYG word processing, graphics, page
layout, tables, and long-document building for maximum user efficiency across
computing platforms.
-The new PC6 processor on a running PC will be the highlight of Intel's
demonstration. This high-speed and improved technology is not yet available to
the public.
-To help technical editors reduce the amount of time and energy spent
editing documentation, Merex Corporation will demonstrate their flagship
product, MerexEdit, which automates the task of manually revising manuals, work
instructions and procedures, thus reducing editing time by up to 75 percent.
-A representative from Quadralay will demonstrate WebWorks Publisher. This
easy-to-use, full-featured system creates and maintains professional quality
World Wide Web pages and hypermedia documents. When used in conjunction with
FrameMaker, documents can be converted from most file formats including
Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.
-Interactive Ideas is a full-service interactive multi-media developer
that uses and sells Macromedia. They create training, performance support
systems and marketing products for CD-ROM, kiosks, and the Internet. Multimedia
help file will be demonstrated at the meeting.

In addition, a selection of ergonomic keyboards will be on display along
with other accessories designed to make the lives of computer users easier.
Vendors will demonstrate their products from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by
dinner and vendor presentations.
