Develops, writes, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals,
instruction books, marketing materials, and related technical and administrative
publications by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may
*Receives assignment from supervisor.
*Observes developmental and testing activities to determine procedures and
*Prepares time estimates for completing documentation requirements.
*Interviews software engineering personnel and reads journals, reports and
other material to become familiar with product technologies and development
*Attends development meetings to gain insight into documentation requirements.
*Studies design documentation, sketches, drawings, specifications and software
applications to learn and understand technology, purpose and use of software
*Works in hands-on atmosphere to master software.
*Makes suggestions to improve product in regard to functionality, interface and
*Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set
standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
*Coordinates review of materials by other departments.
*Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope,
format, content and methods of reproduction and binding.
*Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
*Selects and/or creates photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts
to illustrate material.
*Lays out material for publication.
*Arranges for duplication and delivery of material to the appropriate
*Works with other teams to coordinate the review process.
*Writes technical manuals and bulletins, user guides, marketing materials,
articles and public or employee relations guides.
*Upholds ICONtrol's commitment to customer satisfaction by looking at a
project from the customer's point of view and anticipating their needs.
*Sustains a sense of urgency throughout the development effort to guarantee
timetables are always met.
*Accepts full responsibility for informing the Product Manager when any
situation arises that could jeopardize the timely completion of a project.

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and

reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to discuss
porjects under work with other members of the organization in order to learn
about them and effectively present information.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer experience required. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and PageMaker
preferred but not essential. Prior writing experience and/or training preferred.
