Actually XyWrite mimics the coding used in most computerized
photocomposition typsetting systems such as Atex, Hendrix, Logicon, and
Raytheon. It was more compatible with converting to these programs than
using other WPs. It was the first "WP" I learned as a compositor at a
magazine.
