Bev Parks writes in part:

"If a blanket for horses is a horse blanket and a carriage for babies
a baby carriage, then wouldn't a guide for users be a user guide. In
fact, I've seen it like this, with no s, on actual guides and
manuals."

A fellow tech writer, that shares an office with me, uses "User
Manual" on her manuals for user's. I suppose one could consider the
person holding the manual for use is the user. Thus the user manual.
