to be called out on the carpet for this, then anyone who quotes a
copyrighted article, textbook, manual, or whatever is also in
violation. How many people in this forum who have quoted copyrighted
material to support their discussions have obtained permission from
the copyright holder to do so?

The problem here, Mike, is that there is a great deal of difference between
quoting a small excerpt from a work, and copying the entire work. One falls
under "fair use." The other is theft.
