It doesn't matter what "some mail programs" put on top of your messages;
you're still responsible for making sure you correctly attribute
quotations. It's a basic research and writing obligation. I've been
misquoted in email too, and I was just as annoyed as Alexia to be told
"my mail program did it."

There, end of gripe. :)
