Bill -

At the risk of being off topic too, I'd like to thank you for your
comments. When I posted an opening for interns here several weeks back,
I was astounded to find my post being bashed by several people. I
could just as easily have found candidates by using our regular methods,
but thought it would be an opportunity to talk with some of the
out-of-area students who read this board -- and the result is that
several out-of-state students are now finalists.

What also happened is that a former vendor attempted to trash us via
some email I learned about. While my responses to the original thread
were all hypothetical, I was simultaneously dealing offline with a very
real-life case of one person with a grudge - a very pointed example of
the very problems the list was being warned about.

To my mind, the dangers of having a 'good guy/bad guy' list online and
available to whoever reads this list, or anyone to whom the messages are
forwarded, far outweigh any possible benefits.
