I'm going to put to rest all this polemic & speculation, one of these days, by
conducting an exhaustive techwr-l survey. I'll plug the data into a relational
database and build a tech writer profile according to:

techwr school curriculum vs. graduate success
formal education vs. current skill set
current skill set vs. income
income vs. suit-wearing frequency at work
number of suits owned vs. pairs of matching socks owned (if any)
sock colour-protocol adherence vs. office productivity (if any)
