Irony in responses to Fabien Vais' question!

I found some of the advice given to Fabien Vais about his
problem with two different French dialects deeply ironic.
FYI, Fabien lives just up the road from me in Montreal, the
"other" heart of French Canada, and is intimately familiar
with most of the language resources that people have
proposed. He's also fluently bilingual and a skilled
techwhirler, so some responses are the equivalent of
bringing coal to Newcastle.

I'm not saying this to flame anyone, since Fabien's
question is interesting and relevent, and the responses
I've seen have all been well-intended and helpful, but it
does raise an important point: when you post a question,
make sure you provide the appropriate context, and when you
answer, don't assume that your context matches that of the
questioner. This is a diverse list, and by no means only
North American. (Mea culpa... my particular blind spot is
paper sizes, since I never remember European A4 paper.)
