Hi,

The Microsoft help compiler does not support borders in tables. HDK
gets around that by copying tables as graphics (if requested) and
imbedding the graphics in help (not searchable, breaks jumps in
tables, etc.)

Both HDK and RoboHelp (and anything else that creates Windows help
files) use the Microsoft help compiler. The RoboHelp 4 guide (for Win
3.1 help) included a work-around using Excel that supported limited
borders and rules, but I don't know if that is still supported in 3.1
or is supported for Win95/NT.

I've had endless problems with table width--depending on how users
configure their desktop, its easy for the right edge (or right half)
of tables not to display. Normally, paragraph text wraps when
displayed, but text in tables does not wrap--forcing the user to
scroll. (Avoid tables if possible.)

HtH. Virginia

I fear that it may be Robohelp. I currently use HDK and it quite happily
compiles tables with borders.

As far as I know, this just isn't possible. It's not RoboHELP's fault, but
WinHelp's (or the compiler's).

The best you can do is put horizontal border under each heading, simply by
bordering the paragraph.
