Anonymous posts are cowardly and should not be permitted, IMHO. No
credible newspaper will print anonymous letters to the editor.

Take a look around you, sport. In a very real way, we're *all* anonymous on
this list. I bet I could spend the entire day working right next to anyone
on this list and they'd never recognize me. And most of you could do the
same to me. (There's a few of you on this list I've seen before but that
was
so long ago I couldn't expect to recognize you again. Robert, do they still
do the A&E and TWH parties at the cons?)

Going beyond that, I think I've seen "name witheld by request" in most
newspaper letter columns that I've read consistently. The "credible
newspapers" do it all the time. They insist that *they* know who the writer
is, of course, but they don't print the name. Newspapers print quotes from
highly-placed but unnamed sources all the time.

Our case here is parallel. Eric, the closest thing the list has to a
"publisher," knows who the poster was, and is witholding the name by
request.

If you have something to say, stand up and say it. Don't hide behind
a
curtain because you're afraid of what people might think.

It's easy to sit back in a nice comfy chair and urge other people to take
all the risks, isn't it? ;{>}

Have fun,
