If you're a technical writer looking for work in a high-tech software
company, we're looking for you. SDS (Software Development Systems) is
fast-growing company that produces software for engineers in the
embedded systems industries. SDS is looking for a technical
writer/publications specialist. Our small team of writers works with our
software engineers to create user manuals, on-line help, and other
training materials.

On the job, you will:
* Learn to use new debugging or compiler software and teach others to
use it.
* Take notes or code written by engineers and add material so the final
document is understandable to a broad audience.
* Write user manuals, on-line help, and other training materials

To be considered for this position, you need to:
* Be able to write clearly.
* Understand what a compiler is and what a debugger is used for.
* Enjoy learning complex material.
* Be able to take advantage of cutting-edge tools and writing
techniques to quickly produce new, readable, technically accurate
documentation.

You will need to have exposure, training, or experience with at least
two of the following:
* Computer science, math, or a physical science.
* Psychology, teaching, or instructing.
* Computer art, illustration, multi-media, or web page creation.
* One or more structured programming languages (C, C++, Java, Pascal,
or Visual Basic).

You will be at an advantage if you know about any of the following:
FrameMaker, Assembler language programming, embedded system development,
or writing on-line help documentation. Any knowledge of UNIX or a
graphics program is also a plus.

Education needed for the job is a BA, a BS, or equivalent experience.

Regarding emailed files: Microsoft Word 6.0, '95, or '97, and PDF are
the most accessible file formats for the resume. We have Frame 5.5.3;
writing samples may be in any format Word or Frame can read (but please
let us know what the native file format is). WinHelp, HTML, and graphics
files are also welcome. (Don't forget to include your graphics files if
your document references them!)
