Hi John,

these tasks are usally performed with a mixed set of Perl, Python and C
programs (that work on your real site, not on an image of it).

You can start your search from these entry points:

www.perl.com

www.perl.org

www.python.org

www.linux.org (Linux people are often involved in Net and Web management and
they have several good tools for the task)

http://uts.cc.utexas.edu/~churchh/htmlchek.html (This site contains a set of
useful Perl Scripts, ready to use)

http://protect.simplenet.com/tools.htm (a few more tools)

http://www.world-media.com/toolkit/ (a few more tools)

There is a directory devoted to this stuff at www.yahoo.com :
http://dir.yahoo.com/Computers_and_Internet/Information_and_Documentation/Da
ta_Formats/HTML/Validation_and_Checkers/

Also, try to search the Net for "Web management" or "Web tools" (Not "Net
tools": you would find a lot of TCP/IP and Packet analyzers matching these
keywords...)

Hope this help

P.S. If you do not know them already, it would be a good idea to learn Perl
and/or Python and/or OmniMark ( www.omnimark.com ). They all are great tools
for web management and HTML processing.
