Has your work changed in the last five years? For most of us the answer is an
emphatic "Yes!"

Explore the trends in those changes and what further changes we can expect in
the early years of the new millennium at the 8th Annual STC Region 6
Conference, set for Thursday and Friday, October 15-16, 1998, at the Sheraton
Four Points Hotel in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Your conference registration fee
entitles you to technical sessions, exhibits, and social events designed to
improve your productivity in your current field while offering you a chance to
network with your peers. Vendors will be available to talk you about their
products and services, and there will be plenty of opportunities for
socializing and networking.

This year a new two-day expanded format offers a wider range of presentations
by experienced professionals. Keynoter Ginny Redish, Assistant to the
President of STC for Academic and Research Programs, will focus on our theme,
"Communicating for Tomorrow." Ginny Redish is an independent consultant,
focusing on documentation and usability. She reviews documents and software
interfaces, provides training and mentoring in improving documents and
interfaces, and helps companies bring usability into their products and
development processes. Ginny has worked with many companies in the U.S.,
Canada, Japan, and Europe, including American Airlines, AT&T, Burlington
Northern, Corel, DuPont, Hewlett-Packard, Hughes Network Systems, GTE, NCR,
and Xerox, as well as federal and state agencies. Ginny co-authored two books:
A Practical Guide to Usability Testing (with Joseph Dumas, 1993) and User and
Task Analysis for Interface Design (with JoAnn Hackos, 1998). Ginny is an STC
Fellow and currently serves as Assistant to the President for Academic and
Research Programs.
