If you insert a non-breaking space between the "(see..." and "...Figure..." it will force "(see..." to the next line. Non-breaking spaces are inserted off the Insert=> Symbols menu under the special characters tab. There is also a non-breaking hyphen to resolve the problem caused by hyenphenation break defaults.

The problem is that a line break keeps getting inserted after "see" so that
the text looks like this:

...this is some text (see
Figure 3-1) ...more text

Anyone have a solution? TIA!
