Gang,

Please make an effort to seek out appropriate, not
merely expedient, resources for solving problems.

If you're having problems using your email program,
contact your tech support group, a mailing list for
users of that program, or search the Web for
resources. Similarly, if you need to know the specific
meaning or usage of a general term, look in a
reference book or check with your local library.

Just because someone on this list is likely
to have the answer, and just because you're a
tech writer and have a specific problem, doesn't
mean it's an appropriate question for
TECHWR-L.

This list is for discussion of technical communication
issues--not tech support for any program you might be
running. Word and Frame questions are marginal, but
often acceptable because of the nature of the question
and how closely high-end questions are tied to what
we do. However, using an email program is pretty
far from the mark, just as using the office fax machine
wouldn't be appropriate for discussion either.

Thanks!
Eric
