Technical Editor - Edits for organization, content, technical accuracy, and
style. Exercise good judgment in assessing the level of edit a piece of
documentation requires at every stage of the process. Edits multiple pieces
at various levels of development. Creates an internal style guide and word
lists for group use. Follows corporate legal guidelines to create accurate
copyright pages and checks the Copy Editor's legal edits. Determines
schedule and workflow for the team, as needed. Develops and executes
internal and external review processes of documentation as needed. Reviews
corporate style guide for accuracy as needed. 2-4 years of editing
experience in an online, Web or print environment required. A solid working
understanding of e-commerce technology. Familiarity with Windows NT, and IIS
(or SQL) is required. Must have the ability to organize complex
documentation and to collaborate closely with one of more writers. In
addition, must have the ability to guide the work of other edits and
proofreaders. Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, English
Literature, Journalism or related field preferred.

Technical Editor - Enthusiastic editor needed for dynamically charged group.
This position focuses on Virtual Worlds 2D and 3D programming environment
platform documentation. Qualified person must be familiar with
developer-oriented materials, multiple builds, HTML help, and raw HTML tags
in topics. This person will provide editorial support to other technical
editors, programmer editors, and writers. The editor will be responsible for
online documentation, layout, and pop-up glossaries. This person will also
ensure compliance with corporate and group editorial style standards. Skills
required: 2-3 years editing experience in an online, Web, or print
environment. Demonstrated knowledge of grammar, spelling, and style
required. Excellent communications skills required, as well as the ability
to follow complex instructions. The ability to meet deadlines is essential.
Familiarity with VB and VB script programming languages required.
Knowledge of MSTP a plus. Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications,
English Literature, Journalism and/or a related field preferred. Writing
ability a major plus.

Networking Writer - Primary responsibilities include writing procedural,
conceptual, and reference materials in online, print or web format to
accompany a Home Networking product. Additional responsibilities include
working proactively in researching information with program
management, test and development teams, working with editors and other
writers to ensure consistency, completeness, accuracy and conformance to
style guidelines. The ability to work under deadline pressure is required.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Skills sought -
Qualifications include 3+ years writing experience. A thorough understanding
of Windows networking and experience installing PC hardware (such as network
cards) is required. The ideal candidate will have the ability to explain
complex processes in a very simple way. Knowledge of HTMLHelp or WinHelp
workshop, Adobe Pagemaker recommended. Ability to troubleshoot script,
ActiveX controls and HTML problems are pluses.

Networking Writer - Creation of our client's System Operation Books. These
books are modelled after IBM's popular redbooks. They consist of a set of
documents that go into depth on various areas of managing the operation of
systems and solutions based on bleeding edge technologies. The initial focus
of the books will be on reliability and availability. We are looking for a
writer to perform the following tasks: define a format and document style
for the System Operation Books that can be used consistently, define a
target list of books to be published in the next 3-5 months based on either
existing content or new content, organize and re-format existing content
into books (approximately 2-3 documents >50 pages) and write new books (2-3
documents >50 pages). The consultant should have excellent writing skills
with a track record of producing operation or system management manuals.
Example of books to be produced or reformatted include:
* Implementing and managing a 3-tier architecture solution on Windows
NT 4.0
* Configuring a MSCS cluster
* Managing and configuring a Windows NT 4.0 system for maximum
availability
* Capacity planning consideration for Windows NT 4.0 systems
* Best practices for managing a File & Print Environment on Windows NT
4.0
* Best practices for managing a Remote Access Server on Windows NT 4.0
Skills Required: 1-2 years work related experience required. Must
have excellent writing, analytical and problem solving skills. Must be able
to demonstrate an understanding of a specified software product; or must
have the ability to learn specified technology quickly. Demonstrated
ability to combine technical expertise with technical communication skills
is required. The ability to work under deadline pressure is required. Must
be able to work independently and as part of a team. Bachelor's degree in
Technical Communications, Journalism, English or related field preferred.
Work related experience may substitute for degree.

Senior Technical Writer - This person will be responsible for all
documentation related to the employer's software products, including, but
not limited to user manuals and marketing collateral. We require 2 years
technical writing experience, with software product experience a plus. Our
client is the maker of cutting edge datawarehouse and meta-data tools.

Senior Technical Writer - needed to do the following: review, revise, and
write user interface text for wizards, dialog boxes, billboards, error
messages, and other product features. Works closely with an editor to craft
clear, concise and accurate UI text. Works cooperatively on a team with user
interface designers, usability specialists, program managers, and developers
to review new product features being designed and to provide feedback on
them. Qualifications include 2 years work related experience required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows NT (MSCE or MCP certification on NT a
plus). Requires strong writing, communication, and organizational skills, as
well as knowledge of good UI design. Experience writing text or providing
feedback for user interfaces a plus. Bachelor's degree in Technical
Communications, Journalism, English or related field preferred.

Technical Writer - Research, design, and write instructional text online for
multimedia product geared toward a consumer audience. The writer will
provide clear, concise, and accurate documentation for this online website
project. By working closely with other program managers, web developers and
testers, the writer will obtain key information and feedback to create text
files, FAQ's, and UA materials. The writer will work in conjunction with
Customer Service Representatives to come up with standard responses to
online inquiries for products and subscriptions. The writer will also
coordinate with editorial and legal consultants to review all Website text.
Skills required: 2-3 years of related work related experience required.
Experience writing for a consumer software or Web audience strongly
preferred. Must have excellent writing, analytical, and solving skills. Must
be able to demonstrate an understanding of usability issues and Web
publishing processes. HTML skills are a definite plus. The ability to use
Winhelp for debugging also preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Communications,
Journalism, English, or a related field preferred. Must be able to work
independently, yet have the ability to interact effectively with a team is
essential.

Technical Writer - Primary responsibilities are to envision and write
content for all Windows Server products. Requires working with the Windows
Server marketing teams and writing both management overview and technically
descriptive articles about assorted Windows Server technologies. Skills
Required - Excellent communication skills; outstanding writing skills (3-5
years); proven ability to comprehend technical information and to transform
such information into accurate prose for technical and non-technical
audiences. Also requires knowledge of Web publishing technologies and
processes; a minimum of three years experience writing similar material for
personal computer software; and an in-depth understanding of Windows
operating systems. A degree (BA/BS) in technical communications or a related
discipline is required.

Programmer Writer - We are looking for a talented writer who can also
develop. This writer will be working on a team that publishes web sites for
internal developer related technologies, products, and platforms. The goal
of these sites is to educate professional developers, to enrich their
experience with various products and technologies, and to drive adoption of
these technologies and platforms. Primary responsibilities include writing
articles for developers and IT professionals that explain and evangelize new
technologies, as well as designing and creating samples and example code
that illustrate new technologies. Must also be able to perform technical
reviews on articles submitted by co-workers as well as by third parties, and
to offer technical assistance to the editors and production team. Must be
able to work independently, write clearly and engagingly for developers of
varying levels of experience, meet tight deadlines, and work well with
editors and other writers on team. Skills Required: The ideal candidate will
have a minimum of two years demonstrated writing experience, plus practical
development experience using C/C++ in a real-world production environment.
Web development work a plus (NT/IIS/ASP/DHTML/XML).
