Security is an important issue. However, characterizing the corporation's
concern as being centered around "the building" doesn't take into account
current business realities. Information leaves "the building" all the time,
going to subcontractors, customers, suppliers, other sites, and, sometimes,
locations at which only a single employee works. The key is to have a
well-considered and well-executed security plan.

Clients and suppliers concerns don't center on the physical location of
information, but on the security of the information, regardless of its
location.

It is absolutely possible to ensure information security in a telecommuting
program, but it doesn't happen by accident.
