The Documentation Team consists of six writers who are part of the Information Services department. Most documentation is created and maintained for use by internal First Trust and Fiserv clients.

Job responsibilities:
A Documentation Associate uses various software applications to maintain written and electronic documentation for Information Services procedures and projects. This may include but is not limited to procedural documentation, software user guides, online help text and intranet web pages. This is a learning position intended for those individuals who have not written previously in an Information Services environment and require formal and informal training and mentoring.
A Documentation Specialist manages his or her own writing projects with moderate supervision. The Specialist uses various software applications to create and maintain written and electronic documentation projects which include procedural documentation, software user guides, online help text and intranet web pages. This position exposes the beginning technical writer to various types of documentation while the writer expands his or her knowledge independently.
Both positions participate in all phases of the writing cycle which include:
· Assessing the project and identifying the tasks
· Submitting the project proposal
· Creating and revising the written work
· Requesting and performing peer edits
· Delivering the final product
· Determining versioning and maintenance needs

Required experience/qualifications:
· Intermediate skills with Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Word.
· Beginning to intermediate skills with Microsoft FrontPage 98 or a similar web page development tool.
· Beginning to intermediate skills with RoboHELP 7.0 or a similar help text authoring tool.
· Beginning to intermediate skills with the other Office 97 applications.
· Intermediate writing and verbal skills.

Must be able to work in a team environment, handle multiple projects while meeting project deadlines, possess an aptitude for learning new software, maintain positive working relationships, and organize and prioritize daily tasks.

Desired experience/qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Technical Communication, Journalism, English or a related field, or equivalent work experience; with a general aptitude for software, hardware and computer systems as related to an Information Services environment.
