I use "choose" when I mean for them to execute a
command, and "select" when I mean for them to
highlight something, but not act on it.

Select the words you want to check, then choose
Tools > Checkerizer.

I think that's from an ancient, informal analysis
I did of an MS help file, so it's probably not
correct MS style any more.

But I still like it a little.
