Frankly, there are no occasions I can think of when I actually *care*
what someone had for lunch today, or whether some random idiot were
bored, or any of the other items of pure trivia from the self-absorbed
that seem to dominate Twitter--at least they did last I checked it
out.
I am pondering over what to cover on a new blog I am planning--and I
may go on Twitter to help spread the word a bit once I launch it. (And
before you ask--yes, I will do so ethically and not just as "shameless
promotion"...)
Judging from the various sites I monitor via RSS feed each day, some
of the bloom is already coming off the rose regarding Twitter. Like so
many fads, it seems to be fading somewhat--although that may be simply
because it is becoming more mainstream.
On the other hand, as yet another tool for a company to serve its
customers, Twitter may serve a valuable purpose--primarily, perhaps,
to avoid time-wasting longwindedness.
I do hope those who are using it for this purpose remember to track
the questions answered there, and perhaps to incorporate them into
documentation, FAQs, and future product planning.
