Conexant Systems Inc. (formerly Rockwell Semiconductor),
the world's largest company that focuses exclusively on
providing semiconductor products for communications
electronics, is seeking an editor/writer with exceptional
written and oral communication skills who prefers to work
in a deadline-driven, team environment.
Primarily, you will edit highly technical reference books
and other product documents for an international engineering
audience, and occasionally write for a less technical and
more localized audience. From planning stage to completion,
you will work closely with engineers and product managers
to ensure content accuracy of primary and related documents.
Also, you will work in tandem with desktop publishers,
illustrators, and other editors/writers to meet varying
project deadlines.
You will handle multiple projects on different product lines,
analyze highly technical material for consistency of
expression and style (sometimes written by engineers whose
first language is not English), and participate in peer edits.
Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with practiced research
and interviewing techniques are essential for timely production
of print and on-line deliverables.
A minimum of three years of industry-related experience is required.
A B.S. or B.A. in a technical, engineering, language or communications
field or equivalent is preferred. Familiarity with FrameMaker and
MS Word on Win 95/98/NT is desired. We publish in print, on the web,
and on CD-ROM in PDF format. Knowledge of related developing media,
C/C++ programming, QA and usability testing, indexing, and the use of
PostScript files is a plus.
The position is currently classified as a 6-month contract.
