Fonts in X Window

Hi,

My colleague is trying to view a help system from a Linux server by directing the output on to X Window. Firefox 2.0 is the default browser. She has been facing the following problem:

RE: For word like "etc." Isn't it customary to either have 1 period or 3 - One, even if "etc." comes at the end of a sentence. In that case the period is also used to end the sentence. Help text on GUI

Hi,

Our development guys say that they want to provide short sentences as help text to explain what a user can type in the text fields on the graphical user interface (GUI) of our product.

I opposed doing it for the following reasons:
- Any help information which cannot go in as a tool tip should be included in the documentation. The GUI is not the place to document it.
- Text on the GUI makes translation and localization of the product expensive.
- Look and feel, and aesthetics take a blow.
- Having help text on only some screens and pages makes the GUI inconsistent.
