Society for Technical Communication Phoenix Chapter Announces September 11, 2007 Meeting

WHO:
Society for Technical Communication Phoenix Chapter and others who are interested in the communication of scientific and technical information

WHAT:
Do rumors about downsizing and reorganization fly around your company? Does provincial intrigue seem tame compared to the political climate in your office? If so, you'll want to attend our next meeting. Lance Gelein, past president of STC International, will tell us how technical communicators can win at
“the game of office politics”.

Always a dynamic speaker, Gelein will cover the inevitability of office politics and offer suggestions on how to deal with them. The presentation will include a self-test that you can use to evaluate your political abilities and the political climate of your company.

Gelein will share his knowledge gathered over the course of a 20-year career in technical communication. If you've missed his presentations before, this is your chance to learn from one of our most inspiring leaders.

Gelein, Society Past President, is an international speaker who has been a technical communicator for over 20 years. He is currently involved in technical and marketing communication, usability testing, Web site development, project management, and change management. His list of clients is a who’s who in industry and includes PacifiCare Health Systems, Medtronic, GE, McKesson, Ameriquest Mortgage, Abgenix, Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Palm Inc., Kaiser-Permanente, Apple Computer, and Pacific Bell.

The cost for dinner and program is $25 for members, $30 for nonmembers and $15 for students. The program alone is $10. An additional $5 charge will be applied for late registration or same day registration. The meal cannot be guaranteed for same-day registration.
