Bangalore STC India Chapter Event- on March 29, 2008

The India Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication is
pleased to announce a one-day event for Y2008 (for
technical communicators) on March 29, 2008 at Interwoven,
Bangalore.

Interwoven is sponsoring this one-day event.

Please note that the registrations for the session closes on
March 28, 2008. For registration, please drop in an email to
rguptaz@gmail.com . The session is open to both STC
and non-STC members.

Non-STC members can attend the learning sessions by
paying a registration amount of Rs. 100.
Participants can pay the required participation fee at the
venue on the confirmed date. Please do not inquire about the
event on this mailing list.

Topic: Your first XML with DTD

This presentation is targeted for audience who are thinking of
exploring Structured Authoring, DITA, Web 2.0, Single Sourcing,
Docbook, etc. Before you get started on these topics a basic
understanding of XML and DTD is definitely a great plus. This paper
explains in simple language how to create XML and DTD. Best part, you
don't need to be a developer to understand this. This presentation
provides an overview of XML, XML syntax, elements, how to create DTD,
along with detailed step wise example.

About Speaker:
Rajeev Jain (http://api-writing.blogspot.com/) has 15+ years of IT
experience and has written books titled "Y2K and India ", "Informatics
Practices", etc. He is working with Zilog India as "Technical
Publication Manager". He has also worked with World Health
Organization and DBS Bank Singapore. In past, he has presented on
topics related to API Documentation, Software Engineering, SQL, C++,
Visual Basic, etc.

Topic: Perceiving Web 2.0

This presentation discusses the evolution of web 2.0, its distinction
with web 1.0 and various other interesting aspects of web 2.0.

About Speaker:
Vikramaditya Raj Urs holds a postgraduate degree in Economics and
has around 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Always associated
with writing, he has been in various positions such as content writer,
content analyst, technical writer, information developer, and recently
he has joined hp as a technology consultant. He has earlier worked
with i2, wipro, and alcatel-lucent. On weekends, he engages himself in

Topic: A Talk on User Experience Design
This presentation discusses the macro view of user experience (UX)design.
It covers the various facets of UX design, role of UX design, and the
UX process in SDLC. Plus you get a chance to learn and understand on how
to create various outputs- flows and navigation maps, use case scenarios,
wireframes and prototypes.

About Speaker:
Puneet Syal holds a diploma in Industrial Design. He has worked
in many design verticals, including product design, automotive
design and software interface design. Puneet currently works
as a Principal User Interface designer with Infosys.

Topic: An Introduction to Six Sigma
This presentation seeks to provide a macro view of the Six Sigma
methodology. Starting with a historical perspective, the session
progresses to defining the key components that make up the
phases in a Six Sigma project and wraps up with discussing
possible areas of application specific to technical writing.

About Speaker:
Vasudha Rangarajan has nearly two decades of professional writing
experience. She is a Technical Publications Manager at EMC Corporation,
Bangalore. Her association with STC India includes participation in events,
presenting learning sessions, and providing support for initiatives.
