The longest doc I've ever done in InDesign is about 175 pages, but if
you use the book feature, I imagine you could easily combine and
organize multiple lengthy chapters without a problem. In terms of
size, I've handled 150 MB+ docs in InDesign without hearing a single
scream of protest from the computer. The doc I'm currently working on
is 155 pages and 25 MB. That might give you some kind of comparison.
