<<Writing documentation in FrameMaker poses its own set of problems, as does
writing documentation directly in a markup language in a text editor;
however, in neither of those environments have I suddenly had, for example,
numbered lists Just Stop Working, or stylesheets mysteriously become
corrupted, and so forth.>>
Numbering is the area which requires the greatest of care when developing
templates. It is in fact much better in Word 2003 than it was in earlier
versions (Word 97 & 2000 were quite frankly a menace with regard to numbered
lists). Even so, with those, if you work carefully you can get something
entirely stable that will work in long documents.
