Tomorrow night I'm taking yet one more new electronic "toy" back to Wal-Mart. I would really love to have a tiny 2-gig MP3 player and digital voice recorder on a lanyard, complete with hook-up for external speakers and built-in usb connector to my computer. And I found one on the 'net, and its system specs even included my stone-age Win 98SE.
Nice young lady in the store confirmed six ways from Sunday that the one in her store was in all ways identical to the one on the website.
Wasn't until I got it home -- with its $80 in peripheral goodies -- and tried to load the required file management software -- that I got out the magnifying glass to confirm the system requirements. Aha, Win 2000 or higher only.
18-year-old girl couldn't see those system specs without a magnifier, either. Let's be sure to make necessary information legible so that the users _can_ RTFM! (What a concept.)
Found what I want on the Wal-Mart website, and its system specs include Win 98SE. Why they just can't have it available in the store, I do not know. Gnarf.
