Placement of trademark symbols in single-source content
Subject:Placement of trademark symbols in single-source content From:"Claudia Thompson" <cthompson -at- keithley -dot- com> To:<techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Thu, 11 Nov 2010 15:48:03 -0500
Hi all,
Since our company moved to single-source authoring, we've developed a new
dilemma: How do we deal with trademark attribution in our content?
Our standard has always been to place a trademark or registered trademark
symbol following the first instance of a trademarked term in each SECTION.
However, with the single-source paradigm, it just doesn't work.
To solve the problem, we decided to apply the rule to the first instance of
a trademarked term in each TOPIC. The resulting output is pretty "busy" in
places.
I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this issue - any ideas or
advice? I have searched the web and found some mention of the issue, but
very little advice.
Thanks in advance for your help!
