AltaVista can come in handy in a pinch [snip]
My wife swears by Copernic [snip]

Alta Vista for boolean searches
(I just LOVE the NEAR operator!)

Oingo for searches using keywords that have multiple meanings
(you can narrow the search by selecting specific meanings for each term)

Ask Jeeves when I haven't a clue
(annoying in that search results stay framed, but you can get around this with most browsers)

I also occasionally use Northlight, Infoseek and Lycos (the SE, not the directory)
