I call myself a tech writer but ask for help
from the techwr community without giving you enough details for you to get
a good
idea of the problem I'm having. I apologize.

Of course I tried selecting "save as" but I get a run-time error when I do
(object doesn't
support this property or method). Same with "properties". The only way I
can save this
document is when I close it with the "x" icon on the top right corner of
the window. It will
then tell me to that "this file is read-only" and by selecting "OK" I go to
the "save as"
window. I can then save under a different name but this new file will have
the same
corruption issues as the last. Oh, so very frustrating. Interestingly,
other docs on the
network seem unaffected.

Also, since I have hundreds of cross-references in this file, I am
unwilling to cut and paste
to another "clean" file.

The last thing I can say is that when opening this file a warning window
appears telling me
that this file has macros or customizations that can contain viruses that
can possibly harm my
computer. I know that I added a macro sometime ago before vacation so I'm
unsure
that this is related.

I hope with this more detailed description you can recognize the problem
that I'm having and
offer a possible solution...

Brian
