Steve,

The costs involved in hardware and telephone lines are miniscule compared to the gain in productivity. If you have good, responsible people, it should not be a problem.

On the other hand, I have found that a goof-off can waste lots of time in the office and never be caught. Location does not ensure work ethic.

If after a trial period for the individuals, check their productivity. If it is not working out, pull them back.
