Sean Brierley reported <<I went through the document (thank the Heavens it
is short) and manually retagged all my paragraphs using the new style
names.>>

Here's a neat trick that will save you a fair bit of work next time: use
"search and replace". It's not particularly obvious, but Word lets you
replace more than just letters, and one of the things you can specify is the
style name. In the s&r dialog box, position the cursor in the field (search
or replace) for which you want to define the style. Click the "More" button,
then click the "Format" button, then select "Style..." Pick the style from
the list of choices, and away you go. (To turn off these selections, click
the button "No formatting" at the bottom of the dialog box.)

"Technical writing... requires understanding the audience, understanding
what activities the user wants to accomplish, and translating the often
idiosyncratic and unplanned design into something that appears to make
sense."--Donald Norman, The Invisible Computer
