Joan,
You've received some excellent responses so far, but just to add to those:
- Whatever your background, your post shows you to be an excellent writer.
- After your first job (or so), potential employers tend to weigh experience more heavily than education in their evaluations.
- If you want to feel more confident as to how you'd fare in the job market beyond your current employer, update your resume, if needed, and set up an interview or two. I suspect you'd do well. This is a good idea to do occasionally even if you *think* you're not in the job market, 'cause you never know.... :)
