The market in the midwest is growing as more tech industries move out this
way. (From local recent seminar on tech industry in Omaha-Lincoln.)

For information about what jobs are out there, you could try the regular
job boards, i.e., etc, or you may also try browsing the
websites for various local STC or other tech writing organizations, many of
these have local tech writing job postings. Some of these organizations
will have an analysis of salary range by region, experience etc, (I think
this was a recent thread on this list).
