Actually, if the name wasn't registered, then "TM" is appropriate (assuming
your company is claiming a trademark on it). If it were registered, then
you would use the "R" symbol. It sounds like the writer put in the "TM"
when company wasn't even claiming a trademark. You can claim a trademark
on just about anything, but often that claim is not defensible legally.

Of course, I'm not a lawyer.
