Well, that depends. How'd you score on the tests?

Technical writing isn't all computer-based, unless
that's what you're looking for. Sounds like you have
some strong writing background - that's what is
important. I assume you know how to write logically
for an audience, how to follow a style guide, and how
to interview SMEs for information. That's all you
really need. With those skills, you can jump into a
new market with little difficulty. You may not be able
to jump in as a senior employee, but you won't be
brought in as a beginner either (at least you shouldn't).
