Here in Seattle, the market is definitely off for contractors, but there
seems to be plenty of work for experienced full-timers, though of course
they all want top notch skills for peanuts...

I'm getting a steady trickle of work from a long-time client that keeps me
going, but I haven't been able to drum up any new clients for months. I've
been on several interviews for full-time positions, but I'm out of their
budget range. I haven't yet lowered my rates, but if I get hungry, I might
have to...

This week there was a high-tech job fair. In the advertisements for past job
fairs, tech writers were in hot demand. For this one, I only saw one single
listing. But at the fair, at least half of the companies were looking for
senior tech writers--they just weren't advertising as widely.

At this rate, I might end up going captive for a while... :{

Cheers,
John Locke
