One of my professors or instructors from a previous class somewhere way back
in the early 90's proposed that we get rid of the gender language by
combining all three third-person pronouns and replace it with one
"universal" third-person pronoun. I don't want to sound crass, but here is
what he proposed: "sh/it". In terms of economy of words, it's a great
solution, don't you think?

I don't know if Sh/it's still teaching or not....
