This indicates that STC is more than willing to include technical topics, and that anyone interested in presenting one is is welcome to submit a proposal. (STC undoubtedly has forms dictating the format, what to include, etc.)

My only quibble is that they don't even provide free registration for the speakers. Since it takes considerable time and effort to prepare a good presentation, costs most of us money (often quite a lot!) to travel to and from a conference, stay in a hotel, buy meals, etc., the other conferences with which I'm familiar at least provide free registration for the speakers, rather than just a discount (and, of course, most also provide free transportation and lodging).

the STC annual conference is a volunteer effort.
We issue a Call for Proposals and build the pro-
gram from the responses we receive. We do not
compensate our speakers, other than offering a
speaker's rate for the conference registration.
We welcome presentations on technical topics.
