Hi, guys..I need a "second opinion" on whether I reacted wrongly to
something.

I get an email from someone who I used to work with, telling me that
his company was relocating to NJ from NY and since he didn't want to
work in NJ, he was now out of work. If I knew of any recruiters he
could call, he's appreciate it.

I'm currently keeping in contact with three of them (one I'm working
through), so I sent him the three contacts. He said thanks.

This was about a week ago. Last night, I get an email where I'm
CC;d, along with about 25 other people. Attached to this email is an
attachment with my three recruiters along with 30-40 other
recruiters.

AI sent him a very irate email that I hadn't given him permission to
pass my contacts to a list of people that I 1) Didn't know, and 2)
might become my competition should I need to find a replacement gig.

His response was that agencies are not a secret, that everyone knows
who they are, etc.

I told him regrdless, to re move my contacts, which he did by
resending the list with them deleted. of course, I realize that the
original version cannot be called back, but what can I do.

My question:

1) Should I have expected either permission or at least a warning
that they were being distributed.
2) Even though others may know of the same agencies, is it wrong to
expect that they should have been treated with a certain level of
confidentiality?

Thanks
