I'm new in the department, but in my own work I have noticed that a few
improved features would save me a lot of time. I did a global update on many
different tags in 50 book files (separately). Since there are eight others
in the department who probably run into the similar time-wasting tasks, I
was wondering what features had been improved. It may be that upgrading
would not save the company money, in which case I don't think the dept. head
would ask for the money to start with. I'm just trying to do a little
"research." My initial thinking was, "Wow. This [insert repetitive action]
is a waste of time. I wonder if this feature is improved in 6.0."

Basically, I was wondering if other time-saving improvements existed in
Frame 6.0 that I had not even thought of.

Amanda...specifics from Adobe's web site, including screenshots.

Why ARE you upgrading? Because it is newer? Don't put the cart
infront of the horse. If you start with the premisse "I wanna
upgrade", then try to build a case by finding a reason, then it won't
work and shouldn't.

However, if you have a problem or work sotuation and the upgrade will
save the company MONEY, then it will fly.

So, again...why are you upgrading. Adding CTRL and ALT functionality
isn't something THEY care about, only you.

The length of the list of features will also not win the discussion.
On the contrary, it usualy only takes one. One real, costsaviung
benefit....based on YOUR situation and an existing isssue, not ours.
(Do you spend 16 hours per month updating Search&Replaceable text
strings throughout 234 chapters in 12 books?...THAT is a real money
saving bennie)

Go to the Adobe web site link
(http://www.adobe.com/products/framemaker/whatsnew.html) and you will
find detailed explainations of the new major features. However,
before they become justifyable features, you have to apply them
against YOUR situation, not ours, and not "becaused it is way-cool.
